One of the most common kitchen ingredient that goes to waste once it is beyond its best before date is bread. Although bread should be consumed when it’s soft and fresh but there are a few recipes where you can use your leftover bread to create something very delicious. Let’s take a look at them:

1) Bread pudding cake


· Stale bread- 300 g

· Whole milk- 500 ml

· Sugar- 6 tbsp

· Whole egg-1

· Cocoa powder- 2 tbsp

· Butter- for greasing

· Breadcrumbs- for dustin

· Almonds- chopped


· Preheat oven to 180 degrees

· In a large bowl, crumble the bread

· Now in a pan, bring milk to a boil and pour it over the bread and let the bread soak in it until cool

· Mash the soaked bread with a fork.

· To this add sugar, beaten egg, cocoa powder and chopped almonds and mix well thoroughly

· Greae a cake tin with butter and dust it with breadcrumbs and sugar

· Spoon the mixture into the cake tin and smoothen it up with a spatula

· Bake for 40 minutes until crisp on surface and moist from inside

· Once baked, place it on a wire rack and let it cool

· Serve

2) Cinnamon muffins


· Eggs- 6

· Whole milk- 2 cups

· Ground cinnamon- 2 tsp

· Sugar- 1 ½ tbsp.

· Vanilla extract- 1 ½ tbsp.

· Bread cubes- 14 cups

· Maple syrup


· Preheat the oven to 35- degrees and grease the muffin tray with butter

· In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla extract and fold them all until combined

· Now add in the bread and fold it in the mixture until it has absorbed all the liquid

· Divide this bread mixture into muffin tin cups

· Bake for 25-30 minutes until they are crisp on top and cooked throughout

· Scoop the muffin out of the tin and top it with some maple syrup

· Serve hot

3) Cinnamon sticks


· Bread-4 – cut into long thick slices

· Butter- 1 ½ tbsp.

· Eggs- 2

· Milk- ¼ cup

· Salt

· Sugar- ¼ cup

· Cinnamon powder- ½ tsp


· In a large bowl, add milk and eggs and a pinch of salt and mix them well

· In another bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon

· In a pan, add butter and heat it over medium heat

· Now roll the bread sticks into egg mixture and place it on the pan and let it cook till the sticks are golden brown from all sides

· Now transfer the sticks quickly to the cinnamon sugar mixture and roll to coat

· Repeat the same with the remaining bread sticks

· Serve immediately
