Summer is here and the temperatures are turning a new high every day. And in this scorching heat all we want to do is enjoy a nice chilled drink as soon as we come home from Sun! Plain water is usually not enough and aerated drinks are super unhealthy, therefore, this summer season, we want you to embrace the mocktails! Soda drinks infused with fruity and spicy flavours are delicious saviours in these hot and humid days! They are a great joy for the taste buds and can totally beat the summer heat! We have got 5 ultimate recipes for you that will help you beat the heat! 

1. Orange and Ginger Soda 

Ingredients: 

  • Water – 1 cup 
  • Sugar – ½ cup 
  • Sliced-peeled fresh ginger – 1/3 cup 
  • Fresh mint leaves – 18 
  • Orange strips – 6 
  • Orange juice – 3 cups 
  • Club soda – 3 cups 
  • Orange wedges – 6 
  • Mint sprigs – 6 

Instructions: 

  • Take a saucepan, add water, sugar and ginger, and bring to boil over high heat. 
  • Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.  
  • Remove from heat and keep aside for 15 minutes. 
  • Strain the liquid and discard the solids. 
  • Take the mint leaves and jumble in a cocktail shaker along with orange strips. 
  • Also add ginger syrup and orange juice. Shake well. 
  • Put ice into the glasses and pour the mixture into them. Garnish with an orange wedge and a mint sprig.  

2. Raspberry-Lime Slushy 

Ingredients: 

  • Ice cubes – 2 ½ cups 
  • Club soda – 1 ½ cup 
  • Gin – ½ cup 
  • Sugar – 6 tbsp. 
  • Fresh lime juice – ¼ cup 
  • Fresh frozen raspberries – 230g 
  • Lime wedges 

Instructions: 

  • Combine all the ingredients except the lime wedges in a blender and blend until smooth. 
  • Pour the slushies into glasses.  
  • Garnish with lime wedges and serve. 

3. Rosemary-Grape Soda 

Ingredients: 

  • Water – ½ cup 
  • Sugar – 1/3 cup
  • Crushed berries – 2 tsp
  • Black grapes – 2 cups
  • Orange strip – 1
  • Rosemary sprigs
  • Tonic water – 2 cups
  • Club soda – 1 cup
  • Fresh orange juice – ¼ cup 

Instructions: 

  • Take a small sauce pan, add water, sugar, berries, grapes, orange strip and a rosemary sprig. Bring to boil. 
  • Then reduce the heat to medium-low and keep on simmer for 15 minutes until the liquid is syrupy. Stir occasionally. 
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture completely cool.  
  • Discard the orange rind and rosemary.  
  • Add the grape mixture into a blender and pulse until it is coarsely chopped. 
  • Strain the liquid through a fine sieve and collect in a jar. 
  • Take the serving glasses and fill them with ice cubes.  
  • Add ¼ cup grape mixture, ½ cup tonic water, ¼ cup club soda, and 1 tbsp. orange juice in each glass. 
  • Garnish with a rosemary sprig. 

4. Soda Orange

Ingredients: 

  • Water – ¼ cup 
  • Saffron threads – ½ tsp 
  • Orange juice – 1 ½ cups 
  • Vinegar – 2 tbsp. 
  • Agave syrup – 2 tbsp. 
  • Orange wedges – 9 
  • Club soda – 1 cup 

Instructions: 

  • Take a microwave safe bowl, add water and saffron. 
  • Microwave both the ingredients for 45 seconds and then let cool. 
  • Then take another bowl, add saffron water, orange juice, vinegar and mix well to combine. 
  • Take the 3 highball glasses and put 2 orange wedges and 2 ice cubes in each of them.  
  • Pour 2/3 cup of mixture of saffron and soda into each glass. 
  • Squeeze the remaining orange wedge into the drinks. 

5. Pineapple-espresso Soda

Ingredients: 

  • Pineapple juice – 1 ½ cups 
  • Cold-brew coffee concentrate – ½ cup 
  • Almond syrup – 2 tbsp. 
  • Club soda – 1 cup 
  • Pineapple cubes – 8 

Instructions: 

  • Combine first 3 ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Pour mixture into 2 tiki glasses with club soda. 
  • Garnish with pineapple cubes skewered with cocktail umbrellas.
