Maggi is undeniably our national staple snack. After all, the 2-minute noodle is extremely delicious, easily available, super quick to make and requires no serious effort. Plus, maggi is loved by all people alike regardless of their age. But there’s one thing about maggi that we’re guessing you might not know, that is, it is also super flexible to experiment and improvise with your usual maggi. We understand you might not like the sound of the idea but it’ll be super fun once you actually get to it!  Here are 5 of our favourite maggi variants:

 1. Maggi Pakoda 
Ingredients: 

  • Maggi – 2 packet Water – 1 ¼ cup Onions (finely chopped) – ½ cup Green chilies (finely chopped) – 3 Garlic (finely crushed) – 3  Ginger – 1/4-inch Besan – ¼ cup Rice flour – 3 tbsp. Salt – to taste Coriander leaves – ¼ cup Water – 2-3 tbsp. Oil – for deep-frying 

Instructions: 

  • Take a skillet, add water and maggi masala together, and bring it to boil. Add maggi noodles and cook on high heat until the noodles are 80% cooked. Sir continuously. In another bowl, combine besan, rice flour, onion, chillies, coriander leaves, and salt.  Add maggi noodle to the mixture. Combine gently without mashing the noodles into the mixture. Add 2-3 tbsp of water, one at a time. Divide the mixture into little portions, as many pakoras as you wish to make. Grease your hand and make pakoras by shaping each portion like a ball. Heat the oil on high flame, drop the pakoras gently once heated properly. Flip once the outer layer is set. Continue frying on medium heat until pakoras turn golden-brown and look crunchy. Remove the pakoras from oil, drain the extra oil and place on a paper towel. Serve hot (preferably with ketchup). 

2. Maggi Omelette

Ingredients: 

  • Maggi packet – 1 Eggs – 4 Onions (chopped) – 40g Capsicum (chopped) – 30g Green chillies – (chopped) – 3  Garlic cloves (chopped) – 2 Coriander leaves (chopped) – 2 tbsp. Pepper powder – ¼ tsp Butter – 1 tbsp. Water – 1 ½ cup Salt to taste 

Instructions: 

  • Take a pan and add water, bring it to boil.  Also add maggi and cook on medium flame for about 5-7 minutes. Once the maggi is cooked, drain the excess water. Take a bowl and beat the eggs together. Add the vegetables, salt, pepper and maggi masala. Mix well using a spoon. Add the boiled maggi noodles to the egg mixture and combine well. Take a pan and heat 1 tbsp. of butter.  Pour the egg and maggi mix on the pan and spread. Cook on medium heat until golden brown spots start to appear on the sides. Remove from flame and serve the hot maggi omelette! 

3. Maggi cheese sandwich

Ingredients: 

  • Maggi noodles – 1 packet Bread – 4 slices Cheese – 2 slices Butter/oil – as required 

Instructions: 

  • First cook the maggi exactly the way you do but make sure to keep it dry and not soupy. Take bread slices and apply some butter on each of the. Divide the maggi into small portions and put on portion on one of the bread slices.  Put one cheese slice over the maggi. Cover with a brad slice.  Take a pan and and heat some oil/or butter. Place the bread slices on the pan and cook from both sides until both sides turn golden brown.  Cut into the shape of a sandwich and serve! 

4. Maggi spring rolls

Ingredients: 

  • Maggi – 100 g White cabbage (finely chopped) – 200 g Carrot (roughly grated) – 2 Bean sprout – 200 g Garlic cloves (finely chopped) – 2 Sesame oil – 30 ml Soy Sauce – to taste  Oil – as required Spring roll pastry – 30 sheets 

Instructions: 

  • Cook maggi noodles like you usually do. Take a bowl and mix together carrots, cabbage, bean sprouts, garlic and oil. Drain the maggi completely cut it into 4 cm long pieces. Add it to the mixture Season with salt, pepper and soy sauce and gently beat the mixture. Remove one sheet of spring roll and place it nicely on an even surface.  Put 30 ml of filling in the middle. Fold the sides and roll over. Heat the oil for frying and fry the spring rolls for 4-5 minutes until they turn golden brown. Dry them on kitchen paper. Serve hot. 

5. Maggi noodle soup

Ingredients: 

  • Maggi with taste maker – 1 packet Onion (small, sliced) – 1 Tomato (roughly chopped) – 1 Spring onions (chopped) – handful Oil – 2 tsp Water – 3 cups Salt – to taste 

Instructions: 

  • Take a pan and add oil. Heat on high flame. Add onions and saute until they become translucent. Add the tomatoes, stir fry them until cooked, and the oil starts to separate. Add the spring onions and cook for 1 minute. Add water, maggi taste maker and bring it to boil. Add the raw noodles and cook until soft. Put salt to taste. Once the soup is on your desired consistency, remove from flame. Serve hot.
