With the onset of winter season, we generally start becoming cozy and sluggish. It becomes difficult to get out of the warm blanket and maintain a daily health regime and with a variety of delicious options available during this season, the task becomes all the tougher. So this winter let’s plan our kitchen itinerary with the seasonal fruits and vegetables that are not only nutritious but will keep a check on your weight. Especially those who are on a diet plan will definitely love to have these delicious veggies and shed that excess flab around their tummy.

Radishes:It is fiber packed vegetable that not only keeps you full for long and satisfies your cravings for unwanted food but also aids in digestion. It is believed to be an active cleansing and detoxifying agent for the organs like liver, gallbladder, and blood.

Carrots:Red Carrots are a rich source of vitamin A, beta-carotene, minerals and fiber. The antioxidant beta-carotene not only helps to prevent deadly disease like cancer but also keeps the body in shape through strong immune development. So you can opt out meat with carrots to reduce your calorie intake.

Spinach:This green leafy vegetable is a rich source of iron apart from vitamin A, C, and K and minerals like manganese. This fiber-rich vegetable can be taken raw as a salad or steamed and then blended with other vegetables for soup for boosting your energy levels.  Even tasty and nutritious palak ka paneer, dal palak is a good combination and will assist you in keeping a check on your weight for the next few months.

Fenugreek:The bitter pungent fenugreek leaves (methi leaves) are a rich source of iron, vitamins and essential minerals that aids in process of digestion thereby assisting in weight loss. It can be consumed in parathas or curries or in a vegetable form alone or along with potatoes as methi aloo.

Mustard Greens:Mustard green also commonly referred to as Sarson ka Saag is a traditional and famous winter speciality eaten in combination with Makai ki Roti. It is rich in fiber and Vitamin C, both antioxidants thereby boosting the immune system and assisting in weight loss. It is also a rich source of iron, potassium, and magnesium.

Beetroot:Beetroot is a rich source of fiber and low in calories and totally fat-free. It stimulates the production of red blood cells and builds stamina. It is a nutritious option as salad and can be blended with veggies for soup. Overall its antioxidant properties assist in digestive functions and boost immunity thereby protecting your body and pumping flow of energy to your body.

Sweet potatoes:It contains high amounts of potassium and fiber which aids proper digestion thereby keeping a check on body weight. It is a rich source of natural sugar than regular potatoes but with few calories.

Citrus Fruits:Seasonal citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, grapes are loaded with Vitamin C and fibers and more importantly weight loss properties. They are low in calories and natural sweeteners.Overall all these seasonal vegetables and fruits are fiber-rich and their intake will not only promote healthy digestion but also increased energy and overall weight loss.
